Flickr blog に、clustering と interestingness という 2 つの新機能について書かれた The New New Things というエントリーがポストされています。
1 つめの clusterring は、あるタグで検索した写真は他の関連するタグによってクラスタリングされ、ひとつのページにまとめて表示することができる機能です。
たとえば cute というタグが付けられた写真をクラスタリングした結果が表示できます。これはいいですね。
2 つめの interestingness は要するに、「ホットな写真」をランキング表示してくれる機能です。
The other new feature is called interestingness and it’s huge! A long time in the making, interestingness is a ranking algorithm based on user behavior around the photos taking into account some obvious things like how many users add the photo to their favorites and some subtle things like the relationship between the person who uploaded the photo and the people who are commenting (plus a whole bunch of secret sauce).
上の文章によれば、interestingness のランキングアルゴリズムは、例えば何人のユーザがお気に入りに加えているかとか、何人コメントを書き込んでるか、あるいは写真をアップロードしたユーザとコメントしているユーザとの関係などといった基準をベースに、さらにゴニョゴニョやって算出しているとのこと。
24時間以内のものを表示したり、カレンダーでブラウズすることができます。
